An almost iconic landmark along the Sacramento River near Chico is marking a milestone.
Scotty's Landing is celebrating it's 60th Anniversary this weekend.
Action News Now spoke with customers of the popular river haunt Friday afternoon, and some said it's where you come for the "experience", to "get away from the rat race" and to enjoy good food and a cold drink.
you come for the people you come for the experience.
Located along River Road east of Chico ... It's popular with locals whether they're fishermen or farmers or floating down the river on inner tubes.
Generations of families have made great memories there.
You can enjoy the beauty of the river from the deck outside, live music and dancing, or sports on the television sets inside.
Owner John Scott inherited the place from his dad, who bought the place on July 4th, 1955.
Scott is known as a hero for how many lives he's saved on the river. He says the key to Scotty's longevity is hard work and faithful customers who enjoy the laid back atmosphere.
A 60 year celebration with several bands scheduled to play takes place this Sunday, July 26th. starting at 4 pm.###
