SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Police say the former program leader for a Sacramento after-school program has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor.
Sacramento police say that 31-year-old Joshua Vasquez was taken into custody Friday at police headquarters.
The Sacramento Bee reports police on Tuesday began an investigation of an alleged sexual assault of a child that was believed to have occurred at Mark Twain Elementary School. Vasquez worked as program leader for the city of Sacramento's START after-school program and also as a part-time employee with the Sacramento City Unified School District.
Police say Vasquez was let go by the school district and placed on administrative leave by the city after the sexual assault allegations were brought to the attention of officials.
They say there may be additional victims and are urging people who may have been a victim or witnessed any crime to contact them.
