The California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a major-injury crash involving a school bus south of Red Bluff just before 7:30 a.m. Friday.
The crash also involving a black Nissan Frontier pickup truck happened on Highway 99W at Rodeo Avenue. The school bus driver slowed down to turn onto Rodeo Avenue when the pickup truck driver was reportedly distracted and rear ended the bus.
According to the California Highway Patrol the passenger of the Nissan, Melissa Whatley was air lifted to Enloe Medical Center with major injuries. A 13-year-old student was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital with minor injuries.
