Butte County marks its 8th annual Drug takeback day Saturday, May 16th, as part of the countywide "Drop the Drugs" campaign.
If you have unwanted and/or expired medication in your home you are urged to take advantage of this free program to dispose of them safely, but dropping them at one of four locations Saturday, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Flushing them down a drain or toilet can pollute the water supply, and the same goes for putting them in the landfill by dropping them in your garbage.
The Prescription Drug Takeback will take place at Oroville Hospital's Comp Care Clinic, 900 Oro Dam Boulevard, at Enloe Medical Center's Cohasset Road Clinic, 560 Cohasset Road, at the Orchard Hospital Annex at 284 Spruce Street in Gridley and at Paradise Immediate Care Medical Center, 5875 Clark Road.
No pill bottles or containers will be accepted, so you're asked to take pills out of containers and place them in a plastic bag before dropping them off.
Form more information about proper disposal of pharmaceuticals, see www.recyclebutte.net.
