A Bay Area man decided to stop at a Safeway for a Quick Pick lottery ticket while out for a walk and ended up winning $70 million, California Lottery Officials announced Wednesday.

41-year-old Eurico Chin didn't know he was holding the winning ticket until the day after the May 24th draw. "I was watching the news and I saw that the winner was on Noriega (street) and I remembered that I bought the ticket on Noriega," Chin explained. "I thought to myself, ‘well, it might be me.'" He quickly hopped online to check his ticket and realized he matched all six numbers on the first line of his ticket.

"First I was in shock, I couldn't believe it. I checked the ticket several times to make sure that I won."

Later that night, Chin found himself still in shock and wide awake. To calm himself down he started looking for information on what to do next and how to plan ahead.

Chin took a month to formulate a plan on how to handle his winnings, and then came forward to claim his prize.

He said he plans to invest most of the money and retire, but said he might splurge on a house or a car.

The Safeway that sold Chin's winning ticket also received a $350,000 bonus.
