SAN DIEGO (AP) - The city of San Diego has agreed to pay $667,000 to former Mayor Bob Filner's executive assistant, who said her boss repeatedly tried to hug and kiss her, locked her in a kitchen and proposed sex on a conference room table.

The settlement, unanimously approved Tuesday by the City Council, marks the largest payout to a Filner accuser. It's more than twice the $250,000 the city paid Filner's former communications director, whose disclosures sparked a major scandal that forced Filner to resign in August 2013 after less than a year in office.

Benelia Santos-Hunter fought back tears at a news conference as she thanked family and friends.

City Attorney Jan Goldsmith said she anticipates San Diego will have to pay a total of about $1 million to settle lawsuits involving Filner.
