SAN DIEGO (AP) - SeaWorld in San Diego has reopened its sea lion and otter show, three weeks after closing it so the trainers could help save starving sea animals.

U-T San Diego says the show reopened Thursday. It was closed on March 6 to allow six animal specialists to work at the park's Animal Rescue Center.

Experts say unusually warm ocean water is stranding a larger number of sea lion pups on California beaches this year. Nursing mothers are forced to head further out to sea for food, leaving the pups behind without food.

SeaWorld has rescued a record 579 marine mammals this year - mostly sea lions. That's more than twice the annual average.
