Major repairs starting this week at the convergence of three freeways could cause long traffic delays for vehicles passing through the state capital.
According to the Associated Press, hour-long delays are possible on Highway 50 through Sacramento. And backups could spill onto Highway 99, Interstate 5 and the "Business 80" connection to Interstate 80
Officials are urging local residents to use alternate routes and mass transit to reduce traffic on the section under construction.
The $46 million project starts Tuesday is expected to last through June. It's needed to fix extensive wear and cracking on the elevated section of freeway.
