A Sacramento man was arrested early Tuesday morning after he allegedly fled from police in a stolen vehicle, the Anderson Police reported.

Officers were conducting business checks near Arby Way and Factory Outlets Drive in Anderson when they spotted Richard Michael Almeda, 21 of Sacramento.

Police officers believed the 2003 Toyota Tacoma the suspect was driving was stolen. When officers approached the suspect he took off.

After erratically evading police for several miles, the suspect was eventually stopped on the I-5 off ramp at Main Street in Cottonwood.

The suspect, who is on probation for DUI in Sacramento, was again determined to be DUI during the contact with Anderson Police.

Almeda was transported to the Shasta County Jail where he was booked for auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle and DUI.
