Sacramento authorities evacuated a water park because of a fire near Cal Expo this afternoon.
It sent thick plumes of smoke over the area and burned through 40 acres of extremely dry brush and trees, but there are no reports of injuries or structural damage.

As a precaution and because of smoke, the public and staff were evacuated from the Cal Expo area.

Fireworks are tentatively still scheduled for 9:30 p.m. The Sacramento Republic FC game scheduled for 7:30 p.m., however, is being cancelled due to air quality concerns. Appropriate authorities are monitoring the burn area, as well as air quality.

Members of the public hoping to attend tonight's fireworks show should check or for updates as to whether the fireworks show will continue.

The State Fair is planning to open as scheduled beginning next Friday July 11th through July 27th.
