RV burns to the ground in Shasta County

Shasta County fire officials are looking into what may have caused a large RV fire off Turntable Bay Road near Lake Shasta Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out around 10 a.m. Crews were able to get the flames knocked down quickly, but the RV was completely destroyed.

Forest Service officials said the RV was not there last night and was likely left in the area just before the fire broke out.

A pickup truck was seen speeding from the area shortly before the fire broke out. Crews say if it was not for the recent rainy conditions the flames would have immediately caused a raiding wildfire.

Cal Fire crews are continuing their investigation and plan to release more information as it becomes available.
