Rocky Fire creates road closures in Colusa County

The Rocky Fire is taking a toll on people in Colusa County. The blaze so far has burned 106 miles in Lake, Yolo, and Colusa Counties, which is three times the size of Chico and nearly double the size of Redding. The fire is forcing CHP to keep Highway 20 West of I-5 closed. Nobody, not even residents can drive West of Walnut.

"That way we can utilize that road if we need to. We can have all lanes going in one direction to help evacuate people so it is for the safety of everyone." says Eric Walker from California Highway Patrol.

The closure has forced some businesses on the highway to close up because there are no customers. The road closures are not the only thing changing. The Colusa County Air Pollution Control district reported that air quality is good to moderate, but that may change. They are expecting the air to change to unhealthy over the next few days.
