Caltrans is reminding travelers heading to Lake Almanor this Labor Day weekend they will be holding traffic intermittently on State Route 32 in Tehama County due to unforeseen repair work near the Elam Campground.
Caltrans stated several springs appeared on the hillside sending water into the roadbed last night. Crews are currently making repairs and placing stable base material on the unpaved portion of the road. They will be conducting this work today and tomorrow and motorists may be delayed up to 45 minutes.
During these days the road will be under one-way traffic control with a pilot car. These are the alternate routes:
· From Chico: Take SR 99 to State Route 36
· From Greenville: Take SR 70 to SR 89 and back to SR 36.
Despite the roadwork, SR 32 will remain open through the Labor Day weekend. The full closure will resume Tuesday, September 3 at 6 a.m.
Caltrans has set up a hotline (530) 225-3452. It can be accessed 24 hours a day and will provide updates about current projects, including the Deer Creek Realignment Project. You can also find more information by visiting www.caltrans2.info.
