The Sports Car Club of America is hosting the second of four races in the Road Racing Championship this weekend. Points awarded to those who finish on the podium will count toward the final championship payoff, totaling over $40,000.
Over 200 drivers from all over the western United States will race in six groups on Saturday and Sunday. Gates open at 8am both days with on-track racing and qualifying scheduled to start at 9am.
The $40,000 prize is the biggest payoff for SCCA road racing in the history of the Thunderhill Park track,” said Regional Executive Dr. Gary Pitts of Nevada City.
Local driver David Vodden will be competing in three separate cars in three different races this weekend. Vodden will drive the Butte College Honda S2000 in two main events plus his “Terry Taylor for Supervisor” Super Touring Lite Miata in two races.
