Despite making significant progress on the more than 70,000 acre River Complex Fire in Trinity County, a rise in temperatures has firefighters on edge.

The fire continues to burn slowly into the Trinity Alps Wilderness with no crown runs or torching noted Monday, but the warming and drying trend that began Saturday will continue through the week along with low humidity resulting in possible increased fire activity.

The fire, which started July 30, is now 54 percent contained and has burned 71,608 acres. Full containment is not expected until October 1.
