The city of Chico is inviting the public today to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the highway 32 widening project phase 1.
The ceremony will take place Friday morning in the east park and ride lot on highway 32.
The phase 1 construction will improve the roadway along highway 32 between the east end of the park and ride lot and El Monte Avenue.
The new project will allow two additional turning lanes, add a bicycle lane and fixing the traffic signals on Forest Avenue.
If you're wondering about your morning commute today, the western portion of the east park and ride lot and the west park and ride lot will still be open to the public and commuters.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
Refreshments will be provided.
Council members, city and Caltrans staff will also be in attendance.
