REVOLT, the group collecting signatures to repeal the Turtle Bay land deal, has delivered their petition to the Redding City Hall.

Redding City Clerk Pam Mize said this afternoon that she received a call from REVOLT spokesman Tom Caruto, stating his group intended to deliver their petitions to repeal the Turtle Bay land deal to city hall by 5:00 p.m.

The petitions have been turned in one day ahead of schedule. The deadline is tomorrow at 5 p.m., and Mize said despite tomorrow being a furlough day she was intending to be in to accept the petition.

Once the petition is delivered the number of sections it contains will begin so a receipt can be issued, but the actual counting of signatures will not begin until Monday at 9:00 a.m.

In February, the City of Redding accepted an offer for the 14 acres of land it's currently leasing to Turtle Bay Exploration Park.

The offer was made by the McConnell Foundation, who placed a bid for $600,000.

A Sheraton Hotel and restaurant would be built on this property to increase tourism and revenue for Turtle Bay, who by then, won't be receiving any more funding from the city, according city manager Kurt Starman.
