In the spirit of the holidays, the Butte County Sheriff's Office has gotten started on their bike giveaway program.

This year they've revamped it, so the children receiving the bikes aren't the only ones benefiting.

It's called the "Restoration Cycles" program.

This year, a new partnership between the butte county sheriff's office, office of education and the CDCR are making it so that 100 children are going to receive new bikes this year and people who would otherwise be in jail are giving back to the community while learning a new set of skills.

Through the program, participants are trained to refurbish and assemble bikes that would otherwise be in land fill.

This year's goal is to have 100 bikes ready for the December 23rd bike giveaway.
