UPDATE: One person has now been extricated from a steep, rocky area in the Feather River Canyon near the Poe Power House. According to
Mary Ann Aldrich, PIO of Butte County Cal Fire, two people fell 70 feet. It's unclear if they fell from an old abandoned bridge or the rocks. The area is located at Bardee's Bar, a remote area off of Highway 70. Access is off of Big Bend Road, but according to Aldrich it is difficult to get in and out.

Aldrich says a vehicle was found at the scene, but it had nothing to do with this incident. The one victim was airlifted out about 6pm Friday. There are unconfirmed reports the victim has multiple fractures and facial injuries. The effort continues to rescue the second victim. Butte County Search and Rescue as well as the CHP helicopter is assisting in the rescue effort. Catch Action News Now @10 and 11 tonight with more on the rescue effort.

Butte County Search and Rescue is on scene of a technical rescue in the Feather River Canyon near the Poe Power House.

Reports indicate that two individuals fell approximately 75 feet and are now stuck and require rescue. Medics have reached one of victims, but there is no word on how injured the individuals are and what they were doing in the area.

Butte Search and Rescue said a helicopter rescue is going to be highly difficult to complete because powerlines and a bridge are close overheard, blocking a possible air rescue.

This is a developing story, stay tuned to Action News Now for all the details.
