Report: Zimmerman's girlfriend changes story

(CBS) - George Zimmerman’s girlfriend has reportedly changed her story.

On Nov. 18, Samantha Scheibe called police to say that Zimmerman had pointed a shotgun at her and locked her out of her Apopka, Fla., home. Zimmerman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, battery and criminal mischief.

He was released the next day on $9,000 bond and ordered to wear an electronic monitoring device, remain in the state of Florida, and refrain from possessing firearms. A prosecutor told the judge that Scheibe had told authorities she was in fear for her life and that Zimmerman had previously choked her. He was ordered to have no contact with Scheibe.

But according to CBS affiliate WKMG, a new motion in the case indicates that Scheibe has changed her mind, does not wish to file charges against Zimmerman, and wants the no-contact order lifted.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that in a statement attached to a motion seeking to modify Zimmerman's bond conditions, Scheibe says that she felt “intimidated” when police questioned her and “may have misspoken.” She reportedly admits the two fought that day, but denies that Zimmerman did not point a gun at her.

Scheibe now reportedly says, “I want to be with George.”

In July, Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
