Construction crews have begun work at Chico Fire Station 5 on Manzanita Avenue after mold was found growing inside the station last November.
In May the Chico City Council approved a $200,000 budget for officials to fix a leaky roof that has displaced the firefighters to an on-site trailer.
Construction crews will begin work on the building's exterior and then move inside, the entire project is expected to be completed in three to four weeks.
