An arrest has been made in connection to a shooting in the City of Shasta Lake, and authorities say the victim was shot after the suspect found out he was a registered sex offender.

Investigators took 28-year-old Timothy Gould, and 25-year-old Tanna Curran, of Redding into custody Monday night.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 5100 block of Main Street late Saturday night, and they found 62-year-old Roy Matagora with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Investigators determined Curran and Matagora were acquaintances, and according to a news release, she became upset after discovering Matagora on the sex offender listing website ‘Megan’s Law’ and told Gould.

Gould then allegedly went to Matagora’s house and shot him out of disgust, according to the news release.

Gould and Curran are also suspects in a firearm theft in Redding, and authorities say the gun used in the shooting matches the caliber of the stolen weapon.

Gould was booked into the Shasta County Jail and is facing an attempted murder charge, while Curran was released. The investigation is ongoing and officials say charges may be filed against Curran.
