A Redding woman is able to escape an apparent kidnap attempt by fighting off her attacker. It happened around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon when Jessica Garner, 31, was walking north on the 1600 block of Magnolia Avenue. As she was walking, she noticed a grey Ford Explorer parked with its front passenger door open and a man leaning on the hood. As she neared the vehicle, the man asked her if she wanted to buy an unknown item. Garner didn't respond and continued walking. That's when the suspect grabbed her sweater from behind and dragged her to the ground. Garner was able to kick the suspect's leg and break away from his grip. He then got in his SUV and fled the scene. The suspect is described as a black man in his mid to late 20's, around 5'8" with a slender build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black or blue Dickie style pants and a dark grey baseball cap. If you have any information regarding the identity of the suspect you are asked to call the Redding Police Department.
