Drivers in Redding should keep an eye out for street closures as public works crews finish repairing several leaking water mains. It was first discovered shortly before 5 p.m. last night while firefighters were responding to a fire on Placer Street. The leaks caused crews to close Placer from West to Magnolia Street and Willis Street from Gold to Placer. Placer Street was finally re-opened at 4 a.m. this morning, but Willis Street remains closed while repairs are finished. The cause of the leaks is unclear, however officials at the scene stated the pipes in this area are very old.
