An Air Force Veteran in Redding has been reunited with his World War II medals after losing them nearly seventy years ago.
Sergeant Donald Kaufman served in the Air Force during World War II, but until now he has never had the chance to show off his military decorations. Kaufman said in 1946 there was a fire at his mother's and his uniforms and medals were lost.
Kauffman became a member of the veteran's home in Redding late last year. After seeing all his counterparts proudly displaying their medals he decided it was time to reunite with his own.
The folks at the Redding Veterans Home told Kaufman it was possible to have the medals replace and began to help him complete the necessary paperwork. After almost a year the medals arrived at the Veterans center and Kaufman was presented with his long lost medals.
Sergeant Kaufman plans to wear the medals, and says he can't wait for his children to see them.
