Redding teens arrested for alleged vehicle thefts

Two Redding minors were arrested by Anderson police Monday after officers found a car they allegedly stole parked in front of Walmart.

Two Anderson officers were patrolling the Walmart parking lot Monday afternoon when they spotted a green Ford Focus that had been stolen in Redding hours earlier.

A 16-year-old girl sitting in the driver's seat was immediately detained, and after questioning her they learned that her 16-year-old nephew was inside the store, and also connected to the alleged vehicle theft.

Officer found the other teen inside the store and took him into custody.

Further investigation revealed that the Ford Focus was the second car the pair had stolen in the last 3 days, and officers say they found alcohol and illegal drugs in the car. Additionally, the young man was found to be on probation.

The young man was booked into juvenile hall for the alleged vehicle theft and a probation violation, the 16-year-old girl was released to her guardian.
