Redding swimmer sets two national records

This past weekend, Winn Aung broke two United States Swimming National Records for the 11-12 Boys age division.

The first record was in the 200 Meter Freestyle. The old record in the 200 Meter Freestyle was 2:00.88 -held by Matthew Hirschberger, Winn swam a 2:00.11. The second record was in the 200 Meter Butterfly. Winn's performance crushed the old record that was previously held by two swimmers with the same time of 2:14.40, Winn swam a 2:12.91, breaking the record by 1.49 seconds. One of former record holder's in the 200 Meter Butterfly is currently on the US National Team.

Winn is currently ranked number one in the nation in seven races. He is extremely excited that he broke these records. The 200 yard Butterfly is considered one of the hardest events to swim.
Winn and the rest of the Redding Swim Team will be competing at home June 26-28, K-Coe Isom Trophy Meet at the Redding Aquatic Center.
