Most people don't know what "einsteinium" is, let alone how to spell it.
That's the word that earned a Redding eighth grader a trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C.
Boulder Creek School student C.B. Goodwin is one of 281 spellers that will be taking part in the competition next week.
To help prepare for the three day event, C.B.'s family has been quizzing him on words from the official registry.
"I think reading a lot helps and just getting to know words and things about different languages, like just how letters go together in different languages," said C.B.
The Championship Finals next Thursday will be broadcast live on ESPN.
The winner will go home with a $30,000 cash prize.
