Redding Safeway Employee Stabbed by Shoplifter

On Sunday June 9th at approximately 6:49 pm, officers from the Redding Police Department responded to Safeway, 1070 East Cypress Avenue, for a reported stabbing just occurred. Upon arrival officers learned a loss prevention officer, Jesse Fisher, 53 years old of Redding, was stabbed when he tried to stop a shoplifter from leaving the store.

The suspect, Alexander Restuchi, 26 years of Reding, fled from the location south on foot. Numerous officers from the Redding Police Department along with the assistance of the C.H.P. helicopter searched the area for Restuchi.

As Restuchi fled, he left personal identifiers behind providing officers with his identity and his probable destination. At approximately 9:30 pm officers located Restuchi in the 1100 block of Bond Street. Officers located evidence from the crime including the weapon, a four inch folding knife. There are no outstanding suspects. The injuries to Fisher were minor.

Restuchi was booked into Shasta County Jail for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
