Liberty and Spirit, Redding’s famous bald eagles, have a new addition to their nest near Turtle Bay. The egg, laid by Liberty last night at 7:43 p.m, is the couples first.

This is the first egg laid by Liberty since an intruder bird killed her previous mate Patriot and their two chicks last spring.

According to the Turtle bay website, the incubation period is 35 days and during that period the mother will spend the majority of her time in the nest, keeping the egg warm and protecting it from predators.

Anyone interested in seeing the parents-to-be should check out the Turtle Bay Eagle Cam.
