Redding Police searching for road rage suspect

Redding Police are searching for the driver of a dark green Nissan Xterra after his alleged road rage put a woman in critical condition and a $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect.

Police say the incident happened on Tuesday April 1 around 1:15 p.m. at the intersection of the northbound Interstate 5 off-ramp at Cypress Avenue when a man threw an item at the victim’s vehicle.

The driver then aggressively tailgated the victim’s vehicle westbound on Cypress Ave.

At some point between Bechelli Lane and Hemsted Drive, the man threw a travel style coffee mug through the open passenger window of the victim’s vehicle. The mug struck the victim, Joann Lambrecht-Vester, 66, in the face, causing significant injuries.

The victim’s husband, who was driving at the time, took Lambrecht-Vester to the hospital where she remains in critical condition.

The suspect’s Nissan Xterra was a dark green, early 2000’s model, with California license plates and the driver is described as a clean shaven, white man, 25-27-years-old with collar length brown hair. The SUV was also occupied by a white female with brown hair.
