Redding Police Officers are searching for a suspect who allegedly fired several shots into an occupied car in Redding early this morning.

Officers say four people were driving southbound in a Honda Accord on Churn Creek Road, making a right turn onto Cypress Avenue when a pedestrian standing at the corner of the intersection randomly fired several shots from a handgun at the car.

On of the bullets hit the back of the Honda and struck 19-year-old Jessica Newman in the back.

The suspect is described as a white man, last seen wearing black cargo shorts, a dark grey shirt and a backwards black baseball cap.

Police say the man should be considered armed and dangerous.
Three other passengers in the Accord were not struck.
