A Redding man with a lengthy criminal record is under arrest, after police say he broke into a healthcare business and swallowed dozens of pills. They say Sunday morning around 10:30am, officers from the Redding Police Department responded to Owens Healthcare at 2880 Churn Creek Road. They got a a report that a man had forced entry into the business. Officers say they saw John Ryan Franklin, 33, of Redding, burglarizing the business.
He was arrested, and police say he admitted to breaking into the business and ingesting approximately 30 prescription pills. Franklin was medically cleared and faces charges of commercial burglary and violation of probation.
Police say in 2015, Franklin was arrested 20 times for a theft and narcotic related crimes. He is on active felony probation in Shasta County for forging or falsifying prescriptions, according to investigators.
