Redding Police investigating reports of shots fired at Shasta College

Shasta College school officials say campus security has been increased and an investigation is underway after a shooting was reported in the school's parking lot Sunday night.

According to a news release from the school, a group of 10-12 people approached approximately five students in the school's north parking lot and an altercation broke out Sunday night. Redding Police were called to the school at 8:30 p.m. for a report of shots fired.

Following the altercation the suspects left the parking lot in two vehicles, a black 4 door and a silver 4 door, the make and model of both vehicles is unknown. As the vehicles drove away the suspects fired several shots out the window straight into the air. Nobody was injured.

Redding Police say there is not a specific threat to the school, but threats were made to the individuals in the parking lot.

School officials say additional security has been put in place and the school is working with the Redding Police Department on the case.
