Redding police have identified the Anderson man fatally shot by Shasta County sheriff’s deputies Tuesday evening.

Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Odessa Way around 5 p.m. when a woman called authorities and reported that her father, Tim Kyle Torngren, 55, of Anderson, had been making suicidal statements.

The woman told dispatchers Torngren had been writing letters that are suicidal and carries knives around with him constantly, according to the Shasta County sheriff’s office daily log.

Minutes after deputies arrived shots were fired and Torngren was pronounced dead at the scene.

Details surrounding the shooting have yet to be released, but four Shasta County deputies have been placed on administrative leave and an investigation is being conducted by the Redding Police Department.
