According to the study and Time’s article, the City of Redding’s rising violent crime rate was the 5th fastest in the nation between 2007 and 2012. Time's report stated violent crimes in the Redding metropolitan area increased from 851 in 2007 to 1,298 in 2012, an increase of nearly 54%.
Time’s report also indicated violent crime in the U.S. has dropped by nearly 50% in the 20 years leading up to 2012.
