A man was arrested shortly after he robbed a Redding liquor store just after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Redding Police responded to Gold Street Liquor store where the cashier told them a man wearing sunglasses, a ball cap and a hooded sweatshirt had his hand concealed in a paper bag and made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers searched the area with the assistance of a California Highway Patrol helicopter and located Todd Alen Robertson near Lincoln and California Streets. Robertson was identified as a 32-year-old transient and the cashier told police that he was the suspect who committed the robbery.

The cashier also said Robertson had been in the store earlier in the morning to purchase a can of soup.

Robertson was arrested and transported to the Investigations Division for questioning, then booked into Shasta County jail for robbery.
