The Redding Police Department arrested another person yesterday connection with the kidnapping of a 16-year-old girl in Sacramento who escaped to safety last month in Redding.
On April 17, a 16-year-old girl flagged down citizens in the 1900 block of Hartnell Avenue in Redding. The girl said she had been held against her will inside a nearby apartment and managed to escape.
During an investigation the girl told police that 21-year-old Tanishia Savannah Williams, of Redding, was present in Melvin Derrell Baldwin-Green’s vehicle when she was abducted from the Sacramento area in March. Baldwin-Green was arrested by Redding Police May 14.
Williams was named in the original search warrant obtained on May 14th but, investigators were unable to locate her when the warrant was served. She was arrested at the Redding Police Department after turning herself in.
The victim said Williams watched over her, and monitored her while Baldwin-Green was away. Additionally, Williams assisted in promoting the victim into prostitution by explaining how the transactions worked and purchased supplies for the sex acts.
Williams was charged with human trafficking of a minor, promoting sexual conduct by a minor, taking a minor for the purpose of prostitution, pimping, pandering, and child endangerment. She is being held in lieu of one million dollars bail.
