The Redding Police Department added a new top dog to its K-9 ranks this week.

His name is Dozer, a German Shepherd, who recently completed a four-week training in Menlo Park and is now working the graveyard shift with his handler, Redding Police Officer Nolan Guiducci.

Dozer cost about $9,000 and was paid by donations to Communities for Police Canines, a local nonprofit group that has help purchase several police K-9's for Redding Police over the years.

Anyone interested in more information about the Redding Police Canine Unit is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department. Anyone interested in donating to the purchase of the fifth canine is encouraged to contact the Redding Police Department or contact Communities for Police Canines at>.
