A woman is in custody after she broke into a vehicle and then pointed a shotgun at Redding motorists Friday afternoon.

Police say 44-year-old Natalie Lynn Vanosdol, a local transient, broke into a vehicle near the Snack Shack on Eastside Road around 1:45 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses told police that as Vansodol fled the area, she pointed shotgun at passerby’s and threatened one of the theft victims.

Police found Vansodol under Highway 273 along Olney Creek. She was taken into custody and the 20-gauge shotgun was found in the bushes nearby.

Vanosdol was booked into the Shasta County Jail on suspicion of robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.
