Redding Police say a man stabbed his son in self-defense Thursday morning at a transient camp near 200 Lake Blvd.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing victim at the AM/PM Market at 100 Lake Blvd. at 9:11 a.m. and located 23-year-old Trevor Cearley with stab wound to his left forearm.

Cearley told officers he had gotten into an argument with his father, Tracy James Cearley, 47, of Redding and his father stabbed him with a knife during a physical altercation in self-defense at a transient camp behind Little Caesar's Pizza. He was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for non-life threatening injuries.

Police found Tracy Cearley around 1:30 p.m. near the Little Caesar’s and determined he had in fact been defending himself.

The case will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office.
