A man is in custody after being stabbed Friday afternoon in Redding.

Redding Police responded to an emergency call where they found Dylan J. Duclos, 24, lying with a laceration on his back, according to a new release. Initial reports indicated that Duclos had been shot. Medical and fire responded and transported him to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation determined that Duclos had assaulted his mother at her apartment on Victor Avenue. He was later confronted by the fiancé of his mother, identified as Christopher C. Foster, 47 years of Redding. Duclos reportedly assaulted Foster who had armed himself with a knife in order to defend himself. The physical altercation resulted in Foster cutting Duclos.
