A Redding man who investigators say threw coffee mug through a car window, seriously injuring a woman, was sentenced to 120 days in jail Tuesday.

Investigators say on April 1, 2014, 24-year-old Teddy Robertson threw a travel style coffee mug through the open passenger window of a vehicle. The mug struck Joann Lambrecht-Vester, 66, in the face, causing significant injuries.

Robertson turned himself into police last May after he was identified by anonymous tipsters as the person responsible for throwing the coffee mug at the victim and fingerprints lifted from the coffee cup matched his.

Robertson was originally charged with felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, battery with serious bodily injury, throwing an object at a passenger of a vehicle with intent to injure, and elder abuse. He accepted a plea deal last month, pleading guilty to felony assault.

Lauren Galliger, who was Robert's girlfriend at the time of the incident and is now his wife, was convicted for being an accessory and sentenced Tuesday to three years' probation.

Lambrecht-Vester was in a coma for thirteen days after being struck by the coffee mug, and while she is expected to survive, she has still not fully recovered from her injuries.
