A Redding man was arrested Tuesday night after he allegedly chased a woman around her home and then went on a naked rampage through his neighborhood.

Redding police responded to the 3100 block of Alta Mesa Drive around 7 p.m., after receiving reports that a crazed man was destroying property and breaking into a home. When officers arrived they found 32-year-old Christopher W. Cornelius naked in the front yard.

Cornelius charged officers when they approached him. Officers tased Corenlius and took him into custody. Once he was placed into a police cruiser he allegedly bent the window frame outward and had to be further restrained.

Once Cornelius was in custody police began an investigation and say before their arrival Cornelius had forced his way into a neighbor's home and then chased her around until she eventually was able to lock herself in a bedroom. The woman was not injured in the incident.

Cornelius then went to the front yard where he tore down the woman's garage door. He then jumped into a puddle of water and stripped naked. After removing his clothes Cornelius began picking up rocks and throwing them at passing vehicles. Just before officers arrived Cornelius had allegedly bent the door frame of a parked car.

Cornelius was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance and will be booked into the Shasta County Jail for residential burglary, false imprisonment, vandalism and resisting arrest.
