Redding man arrested on counterfeit check charge

Redding Police arrested a man who allegedly tried to cash a fake check at the Redding Bank of Commerce Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the bank at 12:18 p.m. where they found the suspect, 26-year-old Michael Obrien, of Redding, sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle in the parking lot.

Obrien was found to be in possession of heroin, hypodermic syringes and a stolen driver's license. The woman he was with, 24-year-old Megan Lee Seiler, of Redding, was found to be in possession of methadone without a prescription, Lorazapam without a prescription, methamphetamine, and hypodermic syringes.

Obrien was arrested for forgery, identity theft, attempting to pass a manufactured check, and miscellaneous drug possession charges. Seiler was booked for drug and paraphernalia possession charges.
