A Redding man has been arrested and charged for allegedly pinching, biting and stomping a 1-year-old, causing serious injuries to the toddler over a seven month period.

Redding Police were called to Shasta Community Health Center on Friday October 24 after a toddler was admitted with several bruises and two broken legs. Officers took the child into protective custody, and initiated an investigation.

According to a news release, investigators determined that over a seven month period the 1-year-old mother's boyfriend, Michael Andrew Baker, had bit, pinched and squeezed the toddler causing the bruising. Police say Baker also stomped on the child's leg, causing a broken ankle, and on another occasion Baker pulled and twisted the leg, causing a fracture.

Redding police located Baker last Friday and took him into custody on four counts of child abuse.
