A man is behind bars after running from police, sending officers on an extensive search through a Redding neighborhood. Police say they received a call just before 7 p.m. Wednesday night from a woman reporting that her estranged husband, Jonathon Englestad, 35, was at her home in violation of a restraining order. Redding Police have reportedly responded to the Court Street home three times this month for domestic disturbances and two other times for restraining order violations. Last Saturday, Englestad was arrested for hiding in the woman’s attic, waiting for her to return home. Last night, the victim returned home with her two children to find Englestad standing in her yard. When officers arrived, police say Englestad ran from them, prompting a yard to yard search. He was found hiding in a neighbor’s yard, and when he resisted arrest a police K-9 was sent in to assist. Police say they found an illegal collapsible baton on Englestad. He also reportedly told police that he had been using narcotics and was feeling out of control. Engelstad was taken into custody for stalking, violation of a domestic violence restraining order, possession of an illegal weapon, and resisting arrest.
