Redding Man Arrested After Short Pursuit

A man is behind bars this morning after leading Redding police on a pursuit that covered about three miles.

Zacharie Mencarelli, 25, of Redding was seen driving a suspicious vehicle in the area of Olive Street and Palm Avenue in Anderson.

When he refused to pull over, that is when the pursuit began.

Mencarelli struck a street sign which blew out his tire and began to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.

This was the eight time Mencarelli has been arrested this year alone.

He was found in possession of 8.9 grams of methamphetamine.

Mencarelli was arrested and booked into Shasta county jail for evading a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine.

His bail is set At $250,000.
