A Redding man is facing attempted homicide, rape, and domestic violence charges after his ex-girlfriend told police she had been repeatedly abused while they dated for six months in 2013.
In January of 2014 a Redding woman told Shasta County sheriff's deputies her ex-boyfriend Travis Levi Calfy, 26, forcibly raped and assaulted her for a span of six months in 2013. The woman told deputies she had been living in terror and was afraid to report the incidents.
The victim told deputies Calfy would choke her until she bled, and then spit the blood back in her face.
Detectives launched an investigation and were able to track down acquaintances of the victim who had witnessed some of the alleged assaults. Investigators also obtained several people who had taken photographs of the victim's injuries.
A warrant for Calfy's arrest was issued earlier this week, and he was taken into custody by sheriff's deputies at 9 a.m. Friday.
Calfy is currently being held at the Shasta County Jail on $100,000 bail and is facing charges of Attempted Homicide, Rape by Force or Fear, Domestic Violence, and Terrorist Threats.
