Firefighters this morning battled a blaze at a vacant house in Redding overnight.
Crews were dispatched to a home at the corner of Galaxy Way and Mercury Drive shortly after midnight.
When they got there, the garage was fully engulfed and the fire was spreading to the house.
The home is believed to have been vacant for at least the last three months.
Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials say there may be the possibility of squatting or other illegal activity going on at the home.
The house is presumed to be at least a 40% loss.
There were no injuries reported, and damage to the contents of the home are minimal due to it being vacant.
